Mental Health First Aid 2025
Event description
The standard MHFA is held at Hotel Royal Torrensville on Henley Beach Road. Free parking available. The sessions times are 9am to 4.30pm both days with catered morning and afternoon tea provided plus there is a 1 hour lunch break. The course fee includes a MHFA manual and your writing materials.
The 12-hour Mental Health First Aid course teaches adults how to provide initial support to adults who are developing a mental illness or experiencing a mental health crisis.
Course participants learn about the signs and symptoms of the common and disabling mental health problems, how to provide initial help, where and how to get professional help, what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective, and how to provide first aid in a crisis situation.
Mental health problems covered • Depression • Anxiety problems • Psychosis • Substance use problems Mental health crises covered • Suicidal thoughts and behaviours • Non-suicidal self-injury • Panic attacks • Traumatic events • Severe psychotic states • Severe effects from alcohol or other drug use • Aggressive behaviours.
Any interested adult can attend. Please note this course is not a therapy or support group, rather it is an education course to learn how to give first aid to others.
