Event description

Mental health First Aid Training teaches you practical skills to recognise and respond to someone who may be showing signs and symptoms of mental ill health or a crisis until professional help is received or the crisis has been resolved.

People who become certified are called Mental Health First Aiders. You will be equipped with the skills to listen, connect and offer appropriate support when it matters most. Mental Health First Aiders play a pivotal role in reducing stigma, increasing mental health literacy, and promoting pathways to support and early intervention.

A skill for life,  this course teaches you how to have conversations that support others in accessing further help, while reducing the stigma that surrounds mental ill health.

Your trainer has over 12 years of experience delivering MHFS  in a humanistic, respectful and safe manner.

This training is for anyone in our community who would like to understand mental illness more and be able to have conversations that make a difference.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Recognise the signs and symptoms of mental health problems in adults
  • Use an evidence-based action plan to initiate a mental health first-aid conversation
  • Know the barriers to help-seeking and how to overcome these
  • Assess for a range of crises and provide initial support
  • Understand the prevalence and impact of mental illnesses, risk factors and treatments and supports available
  • Apply self-care practices as a Mental Health First Aider
  • This course is recognised by Suicide Prevention Australia as a safe, high-quality, and effective suicide prevention program and CPD points are available for some professions.

There will be 2 days of training  2/4/25 & the 9/4/2025 from 9 am to 4 pm, both sessions (12 hrs in total)  must be completed for you to receive your certificate. To find out more https://www.mhfa.com.au/our-co...
