Mental Health First Aid® training June 2025
Event description
Become a Mental Health First Aider™
Around 1 in 5 Australian adults experience a common mental illness each year. And in Northern NSW Bundjalung Country, this is even more so due to disaster-related trauma. If you work in community support or customer service, engaging with vulnerable people and taking a trauma-informed approach is more important in our region than ever before.
Mental Health First Aid® training enables you to become an accredited Mental Health First Aider™, teaching you practical skills to support someone with a mental health problem. This training helps you to recognise common mental health problems, to then provide initial help using a practical, evidence-based action plan, seek appropriate professional help and respond in a crisis situation.
Community Gateway is proud to be providing this training over 2 days in June. There are 15 spaces available, so register now to reserve your place.
Standard Mental Health First Aid® training benefits
- Improves knowledge of mental illnesses, treatments and first aid actions.
- Builds confidence in providing first aid.
- Decreases stigmatising attitudes.
- Increases the support provided to others.
