Event description

The National Stay Afloat Program brings Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) to our community in an online format to support one another and deepen their understanding of ways that they can practically improve their own mental health and wellbeing as well as support each other.

Why Refresh my MHFA Certificate?

At any point in time, 1 in every 5 Australians are experiencing mental illness. Research has shown that the numbers may be even higher amongst our seafood community. Stay Afloat has worked with Mental Health First Aid Australia to specifically tailor a number of the learning examples to suit common challenges in Seafood. The course is delivered by people who understand the particular stressors that are often faced.

Who can attend?

Any employee or business owner in the commercial seafood sector (including aquaculture), their family, or friends over 18 years of age. You must be a currently certified Mental Health First Aider. To be eligible to Refresh your certification, it cannot be any more than 6 months past it's expiry date, If this is the case you will need to do the full course again.

What’s the cost?

There is no cost for our industry.  These courses have been funded through the National Stay Afloat Program.

What’s involved?

  • Self-paced eLearning component (typically 5 -7 hours) followed by;
