Event description

BECOME A MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AIDER
Support friends, family members, colleagues and others.

One in five Australian adults experience a common mental illness each year.  Mental Health First Aid training will teach you practical skills to support someone with a mental health problem.  Make a real difference to people in your community.

If you are worried about your family member, friend or colleague, this course will give you confidence to know how to offer mental health first aid, in a supportive and non-judgemental way. Learn how to ask about, listen to and support someone experiencing mental health problems.

The Standard Mental  Health First Aid training course will teach you how to provide initial support to people who may be experiencing mental health problems.  The course has been developed using the expertise of people with lived experience as well as mental health professionals.  We'll explore Depression, Anxiety problems, Psychosis and Substance use.  Some of the crisis situations we'll explore include suicidal thinking, panic attacks and severe psychotic states.

Training goes for 12 hours over two days, and is accredited for 3 years. You can also qualify for up to 5 CPD points.

The course runs for 2 days, from 8.45 for 9 am start to be finished by 4.00 pm both days. Morning and afternoon tea is included.

What people are saying about JB's training:

“Jonathan held the space for us in a way that felt safe and open to me. His knowledge in this area was clear, but he let us be curious and come to our own conclusions. I would highly recommend undertaking MHFA, and Jonathan was an excellent facilitator.”
— - Bonnie Tuttle (Coach and Consultant), Howrah, lutruwita/Tasmania

“Thanks so much for creating a safe and harmonious space to learn about such important content. I will definitely be recommending this course and instructor to my friends and family.”
— MHFA Participant, 2022
