Mental Health Responder training for Primary School Teachers and Support Staff - ONLINE

This event has passed Register

Event description

This online course is specifically tailored for Primary School teachers and Support Staff in the support of primary school aged children's mental health.

In recent times leaders and teachers have noticed a significant increase in issues relating to student health.
It is common that teachers and support workers will be assisting students with mental health problems.
A mental health problem may not be a diagnosed illness but may be severe enough to warrant crises such as impaired daily functioning and/or having thoughts of suicide.

Teachers and school support workers will also be aiding students who may have a caregiver or family member struggling with such mental health problems as anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation and/or substance use.
The workshop will cover:

  • Understanding mental health; stress, anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation
  • Age-appropriate mental health promotion for students
  • Responding to mental health problems - individuals and in-class response
  • Supporting students through family crises
  • Referral to services

3-hour duration led by our experienced trainer Linda White who holds Post Graduate Diplomas in both Psychology and Counselling.

Please note: This online training requires you to have both a working camera and microphone.
