In 1931, we were a fledgling institute trying to establish itself securely. We asked for a donation of £1-10shillings – about £89 today, as the request says, to bring more opportunities for learning to those with “some familiarity with philosophical studies but also to awaken interest among those who have not already done so”. We have those same aspirations today and we hope, like those before you, you see the value of supporting our delivery of philosophy in schools, in prisons and in communities across the UK
