'Merri Home' – SHD Home Tour
Event description
Sustainable House Day is an event from Renew that provides the opportunity to explore some of Australia’s most inspiring homes, and learn from the people who designed them, built them, and live in them.
Please note that you will need to book in to a specific tour time, and if you do not arrive at this time you will not be able to tour the home. This is due to capacity restraints set by the homeowner to ensure the safety of all parties on the day.
You will be sent the address in the days before the event.
About this home
MM House combines striking contemporary design with innovative sustainability features, seamlessly integrating into its site constraints and local context. Comprising three volumes with morphed gable forms, the design optimizes light and views while respecting heritage overlays. Sustainability is paramount, with reused foundations and low embodied energy materials. Rammed earth and timber construction, along with rainwater harvesting and solar integration, contribute to its autonomy. Adaptable zones ensure the home accommodates changing family needs.
