OpusWA Messiah Concert

Thanks to our major sponsors, Bendigo Bank and the City of Greater Geraldton, Geraldton Anglican Cathedral will be hosting Opus WA's production of Handel's Messiah on 12 December 2026. This will include 20 Orchestral Members and 16 Singers from Perth. The performance will showcase a high end production of the best of WA's emerging classical musicians and operatic singers in Geraldton, drawing an audience of music lovers and music students from throughout the mid-west.

Geraldton Anglican Cathedral provides the perfect venue for this performance with unique acoustic properties ideal for classical music, stained glass windows, classic 1960's architecture, all in a central Geraldton location. The Cathedral is licensed to seat 455, but we will limit tickets to 350. Our aim is to provide a high end musical performance that is accessible to a broad demographic of music lovers in the region of Geraldton and the greater mid-west region. We believe this will uplift appreciation of the arts in the region and Geraldton as a desirable place to live.

OpusWA was founded in 2019 by Ian Westrip OAM and Dr Jocelyn Cullingford as a vehicle for promoting some of Perth's emerging operatic talent and for bringing classical music to a wider range of metropolitan and regional audiences. OpusWA performed the Messiah concert at Geraldton Anglican Cathedral in 2021. One audience member testifies "I wanted to thank you and OpusWA for bringing Handel's Messiah to us in Geraldton.
