Event description

Messy Play Group - The Muck Club Fairlie

60-minute messy sensory play session, packed with things like slime, paint, sand, water, sensory foods, and more. An environment where kids explore, create, and learn at their own pace. Messy play isn’t just fun—it supports fine & gross motor development through hands-on experimentation and creativity.

Common Questions

What age is this playgroup suitable for?

Set ups will be best suited for children aged 6 months–6 years. However, older siblings are welcome to come along and join in too!

Can my child go alone?

No. Children must attend with their parent/caregiver and be supervised by this parent/caregiver at all times during the session. No more than 4 children per adult.

Do I need to clean up at the end?

No! Thats one of the best part of the Muck Club, your child gets to get messy but leaves your own house clean! A hand at the end is always appreciated but definitely not required!

What should I bring?

  • "Old" clothes that you are happy for your child to get mucky in and/or a protective smock/overalls

  • A change of clothes for afterwards and/or a towel.

  • Water (there is access to a kitchen if you forget).

What kind of "muck" is used?

Likely things like - sand, water, slime, foam, cornflour, chia seeds, jelly, rice, oats. We will only select "kid friendly" substances.

Is it all "messy" play?

A majority of it will be, but I will include a small area with sensory play that is not messy for younger children/babies.

How often will these be held?

This is very much a trial run to gauge interest. If successful, we will try run them monthly.

How much does it cost?

$10 for 1 child attending with an adult (+ ticketing fees). Additional children $5 (+ ticketing fees), up to 4 children. Pricing covers hall hire, materials, setup, cleanup.

Where is the session located?

It will be run at the St Columba Hall (beside the St Columba church) at 59 Main street, Fairlie, South Canterbury, NZ.

How will the session run?

60 minutes of unstructured, open-ended messy play!

I can't attend anymore, can I get a refund of my ticket?

You can request a refund by clicking "manage order" on your ticket confirmation email, up to 3 days before the event. However, if it is within 3 days of the event, please email me at themuckclubfairlie@gmail.com and we may be able to offer a partial refund or transfer of ticket to the next event.
