META - METAMORPHOSIS
Event description
***Monday is a Preview Performance
The Season is from Tuesday (Opening Night) - Thursday
Meta-Metamorphosis is set in Kafka’s mind on the eve of delivering a new story to his Publishers. Set in the future he reflects apocalyptic conditions and struggles to find a way to re-write a new path for humanities survival.
During the night his mind becomes host to peers, Silvia Plath, Artaud and a string of writers and muses to help him through writers’ block. A theatre production team set up in his imagination to help him visualise his storyline, but his mind drifts as the night wears on and his characters begin to mutiny against the writers’ plot.
Both Kafka and the backstage crew (in his deep psyche) are drawn into the story in a fight to save the world from being taken over by cockroaches.
or in a fight to bring humans back from the brink of extinction.
A self-devised work. Direction, concept and dramaturgy Jo Stone in collaboration with Second Year AC Arts actors.
