MFF2027: AK Patterson
Description
Part of Manchester Folk Festival 2027. This show will take place in Victoria Wood Hall within the Hallé St Peter's building.
AK Patterson is a London-based alternative singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose music is defined by emotional depth and an intimate approach to storytelling. Her music sits “on the cusp between rock and folk”, with distinctive open guitar tunings that move with her powerful, unmistakable voice. Raised playing fiddle in the Irish cultural preservation movement Comhaltas, Patterson later led choirs in South London’s men’s prisons, experiences that helped shape her fascination with outsiders and the stories we rarely hear. Her debut album, I Have More When I Have Not, emerged after a psychosomatic illness left her unable to sing, becoming a powerful exploration of loss, identity and resilience. Praised by Guy Garvey and The Independent for her songwriting, she has supported alt-J and Johnny Flynn and performed with Bastille. She is now signed to London independent label 5DB Records.
