Miān

Miān, meaning "in-between", is CozyMinimal’s debut album, crafted as an intimate exploration of sound, transition, and emotional depth. At its heart, the record rests in a liminal space, floating naturally between repetition and transformation while connecting classical Iranian heritage with modern minimalist design.

Drawing inspiration from the rich modal frameworks of classical Iranian music – specifically Abu Ata, Dashti, and Afshari – Miān shapes a moving, melancholic landscape balanced gently between sorrow and hope. As sounds rotate and evolve across a circular field, the music captures the true essence of minimalism: subtle and intentional shifts that draw the listener into a space of still wonder.

Formed in Sydney in 2022, CozyMinimal blends traditional Iranian melodies into the clean, spacious framework of modern minimalism. CozyMinimal’s sound takes inspiration from the dynamic melodies, expressive motifs, and hypnotic rhythms of classical Iranian music.
