About the workshop:

Guest speaker Helen Neale from Community Living Project (CLP) in South Australia will facilitate two sessions, the first event being an information presentation/ seminar and the second session a more in-depth workshop for those who are interested in this employment pathway or have an idea for their small business.

Helen will speak about establishing a Micro Enterprise, why it can be a wonderful career option, and share stories about Enterprise Owners and their businesses.

She will explain:
• What a Micro Enterprise is and some examples of local Micro Enterprises
• The benefits of considering Micro Enterprises
• The principals which guide South Australia’s Community Living Project’s Micro Enterprise project
• Tips for using NDIS funding to set up a Micro Enterprise
• How to establish a Micro Enterprise.

Session 1 – Introducing Micro Enterprise (9.30am-12.30pm)
This is an information session to explore the benefits that owning an enterprise can bring to people’s lives and how NDIS funding can support this option.
This session is open to people with disability and their family members and allies, support coordinators, school staff, NDIA & LAC planners and service providers.

Session 2: Practical Workshop (1.00pm-3pm) *Limited places
This workshop session for people with disabilities and their families and allies will get you started with your ideas and discovery of the possibilities. This is for people who are ready to explore how a micro enterprise could work for them.
The afternoon practical workshop is specifically for people with disability, their family and allies.

Who Should Attend?

The focus of the day is on the Discovery Process of Customised Employment and how small/ micro-enterprise could be a good option for meaningful employment.

Session 1 will be an informational session for anyone who is thinking about future work for a family member who is a secondary school student with disability – whether as a parent, family member, friend, ally or in a work role.
Session 2 is for families and their young person and support team who either have a business idea in mind, or would like to explore this option in greater detail.
*Attendance at the morning session is a pre-requisite to attending the afternoon session
