MICROPLASTICS – An Online Talk

In the lead up to Plastic Free July, many of us will be pondering over the big plastic problem & it’s descendant – the microplastic problem.

Join us online at 7pm on the 28 June for a fascinating dive into the current microplastic research, trends and importantly – solutions.

The speakers:

Dr Michelle Blewitt (AUSMAP)

Dr Blewitt, Program Director of AUSMAP, is a Marine Scientist, with over 30 years’ experience, with a passion for education, research and conservation. AUSMAP is the bridge between a massive problem and the solutions. It is designed to document and analyse microplastic pollution in Australian aquatic environments.

Dr Nina Wootton (University of Adelaide)

Dr Wootton is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Adelaide examining the presence of microplastics in seafood species around Australia and the globe.

Chris Lemar (Adopt a Spot) – how to get involved (5 mins)

Adopt a Spot is a volunteer run group which has been making a difference to our coastline by getting group members to ‘Adopt’ and clean up a location. Plus document their findings.


Event duration: 7pm - 7.45pm followed by 15 minutes of Q+A.

This event will be run online via zoom. Please register (FREE) to recieve the zoom link. 

The Port Environment Centre is seeded by Green Adelaide.

This event is supported by the Greater Adelaide Environment Network (GAEN).

Attendee information may be used for follow up evaluation, in order to assess the longer term impacts of our events. Follow up contact may be made (in the form of a survey) but participation in any evaluation is optional.
