Midgar 10th Anniversary Showcase ft. Polygonia (DE) + OK EG (AU)
Event description
Crown Ruler is combining forces with our dear friends at dstreet and Midgar for a super special summer showcase featuring a whole bunch of friends from near and far at old faithful, Miscellania.
It’s hard to summarise Midgar’s impact over the past decade, a label that has continued to champion emerging underground voices and push deep, psychedelic and forward-thinking music with an approach that is fresh, welcoming and full of life. Founder Jacopo Severitano’s (aka Severja) bright and positive outlook filters into every aspect of the label from its unique artistic style to the meaningful storytelling put forward by the artists.
Polygonia is one of the most exciting names in dance music at the moment and is finally making her long awaited debut down under. Lindsey Wang (Polygonia), is a prolific producer, known for her intricate percussion and organic, forest dwelling soundscapes. Her musical palette flows between various shades of groovy, trippy Techno, Breakbeat and Bass Music, tinged with a mystical quality and irresistibly danceable rhythms. The Munich based artist is the the label boss of QEONE and co-founder of IO records. As well as being a resident at Blitz club, she is also plays regularly at Tresor and Berghain. Her performances range from intense body music and emotional interludes to powerful, bass-heavy moments, creating dynamic narratives.
OK EG is the collaborative project of Melbourne-based artists Matthew Wilson and Lauren Squire. The duo is known for their immersive, hardware-based live sets that channel the raw, unpredictable energy of the Melbourne underground. Their newest EP Heatwave is the latest release on Midgar and is an exploration of techno’s deepest layers. Pulsing with bass-heavy grooves, it’s a trip through refracted techno at its most intricate imploring you stop for a moment and be still.
Rounding out the night, Midgar label head Severja and Tangela of dstreet join forces, weaving together their love of deep trippy soundscapes and wiggly oddities. Their eclectic palettes dipping between dub, breaks, IDM & techno with levity and emotive energy.
This event takes place on the stolen Lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded. Free entry to any First Nations attendees.
