Event description

A weekend of special IOTA-centric events in Geraldton and Northampton in partnership with the Museum of Geraldton and Ku’arlu Mangga.

Join us for talks, workshops, and social events – connecting community through craft and culture.

The IOTA24 festival and regional events are proudly supported by Lotterywest.

Geraldton & Northampton program

Thursday 10 October, 10am – 4pm: Sew Still Life with Susie Vickery
A one day embroidery and appliqué workshop, including lunch, coffee & tea, courtesy of KMG.
Ku’arlu Mangga Northampton. $60+GST per person. Booking essential. 

Friday 11 October, 10.30am – 3pm: Collaborative Approaches to Exhibitions & Community Projects
A day of talks & discussion to inspire your next projects and build your practice.
The Wedge, Museum of Geraldton. Morning & afternoon tea included. BYO lunch. Free. Registrations essential.
• 10.30am registration for 11am start
• 11am - 12.30pm: presentation & panel.
Susie Vickery & Jude van der Merwe share their approaches to developing group exhibitions, engaging communities, and the richness that working collaboratively brings.
• 1.30pm - 3pm: workshop
Based on the morning’s discussions, participants will split into groups, share stories of the crafted objects they have brought along with each other, and then collaboratively curate hypothetical collections or exhibitions. 

Friday 11 October, 5–8pm: Soundscapes Sundowner
Find parallel codes at work between music and art, in patterns, rhythm and sound.
Regional Sounds, 246 Marine Terrace, Geraldton. Free event; cash bar. RSVP essential.

Saturday 12 October, 10–11:30am: Pecha Kucha / Midwest Artists
In this fast-paced session, artists share their projects, passions, and inspiration. 6 artists, 6 minutes, 12 slides. This is intended to be a friendly professional development opportunity as well as an entertaining & enlightening session.
The Wedge, Museum of Geraldton. Morning tea included. Free event. Registrations essential.

Saturday 12 October - Sunday 13 October
