Technical wizards, deeep jams, mad beats… the whole package. Joining them on the night will be two local heavyweights Micah Heathwood and Genie

Widely beloved and critically celebrated award-winning Naarm/Melbourne-based psychedelic jazz outfit Mildlife today return with new single and video ‘Return to Centaurus’, and announce their accompanying single tour taking place across October and November this year.

Out now on [PIAS] Australia, ‘Return to Centaurus’ marks the band’s first new material since the release of their lauded, ARIA Award-winning 2020 second studio album Automatic. Opening withdroning synths and a wall of horizontal, Kraftwerk-esque vocoders, ‘Return to Centaurus’ evolvesfrom psychedelic space rock into a gloriously hook-heavy acid funk meltdown over the course ofits ten minute-long trip time. Luxuriating in loping, velvet-draped bass lines, sparkling, funk-lacedguitar riffs and intricate, morphological percussion, it distils Mildlife’s unwavering adoration for the beguiling realms of 70’s psychedelic and cosmic sounds, owing as much as it does to Sun Ra andAlice Coltrane as it does Ennio Morricone and Giorgio Moroder.

In the last 18 months, Mildlife have performed over 100 shows in 23 different countries, performing with the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Khruangbin, Parcels, Kamasi Washington & KingGizzard & The Lizard Wizard, and enamouring crowds with euphoric festival sets at Splendour in the Grass, Pitch Music & Arts Festival & Desert Daze. Mildlife now bring their most elevated liveshow yet to cities around Australia in October & November.
