The Milford Street Shakers

Get-up-and-dance music from the golden age of soul

Let the good times roll with the Milford Street Shakers, Western Australia’s spectacular 11-piece soul band.

These charismatic cats live and breathe the 1960s, when big bands ruled the dance halls and gospel, rhythm & blues and jazz music converged to inspire some of the most soulful tunes of all time.

‘An 11-piece band is not just a trio playing in the corner, it’s a whole wall of sound.’

Frontwoman Ayla Woodland and her world-class band deliver epic renditions of beloved soul and Motown classics that make it impossible to stand still, infusing joy into sophisticated celebrations.

Elegant like Mad Men, exuberant like Palm Springs and with trademark camaraderie, the Milford Street Shakers never miss a beat, pumping out hit after hit with stunning vocals, pulsating rhythms and howling horns.

‘From the moment the band members walk onto the stage, you know you're in for a good time. They are cool, charismatic and play with high energy and joy. In fact, it's hard to say who is having more fun – the band or audience?’

Make no mistake, this isn’t background music – it’s get-up-and-dance music.

‘Wow! These guys are a bunch of crazy talented and entertaining musicians. The enjoyment they find in the making of music is contagious.’

We're delighted to welcome the Milford Street Shakers to the Bay Music Club for the first time!

Bettega-Cullen Duo

Bill Cullen is a singer songwriter with a rich voice and easy guitar style which he applies to a wide range of acoustic music. Bill likes to mix up a variety of musical genres from acoustic mid-century rock, popular hits and soulful ballads, to original compositions on issues he cares about.

Ed Bettega commenced his musical career in the 70s with Perth bands before re-locating to Melbourne and then the Sunshine Coast. He made the switch from electric guitar to acoustic in the 90s and has played in all manner of settings including Big Band, Jazz Trio, Musical Pit Bands and most recently as a solo singer/songwriter. He loves creating solos and arrangements that enhance a song and writing an insightful lyric.

Together Bill and Ed bring a wealth of musical and song-writing talent and we look forward to welcoming them once again to The Bay. You will definitely want to hear more from this talented duo!
