MIN Voices present: Paper Human Rights

As part of the Human Rights Festival Scotland (9–13 December 2026), MIN Voices invites audiences into an interactive art space exploring what human rights mean in the lived experiences of people seeking asylum, refugees and migrants in Scotland.

Each essential human right will be represented through an artwork reflecting how that right is experienced by people new to Scotland and diaspora communities. Each artwork will be accompanied by community members sharing stories as an interactive bookcase for audiences to interact with. From the effective ban on the right to work, when people seeking asylum can be left for years in limbo without access to employment, to the right to family life amid the suspension on refugee family reunification, the artwork and community members reveal the real human impact of harsh policies and systems.

Through poetry, storytelling and conversation, MIN Voices members will share experiences of campaigning and fighting for their rights. Members of the public may interact with the artwork, collecting which impact them most and piece them together into a “paper quilt”, revealing how interconnected, yet fragile, our rights are.
