Join this free, 60-minute online webinar to gain access to insights and learn about ground breaking treatments to chronic mental health conditions.

Many have noted that the use of psychedelics seems to be experiencing a renaissance, and more and more research is finding substantial benefit in the use of psychedelics for mental health problems, such as depression and PTSD. These data suggest that one or two experiences with psychedelics can reliably produce a transformative experience that has lasting and positive benefits. This raises the question as to exactly what is happening. That is, is there a theory of the human mind that can provide a descriptive and even causal explanatory framework for these transformations?

This hour-long webinar will review a framework for higher transformative conscious experiences developed by Dr. John Vervaeke and situated in Dr. Gregg Henriques’ larger unified theory of psychology. This framework interprets transformational conscious experiences as stemming from deep changes in what Vervaeke calls “perspectival” and “participatory” forms of knowing.

This webinar will explain why, when appropriately set up and scaffolded, psychedelics may reliably produce this kind of change.

    Learning Outcomes:

    • Learn about the three domains of human consciousness
    • Learn about the four ways of knowing
    • Learn what happens during transformational consciousness experiences
    • Will be able to describe why psychedelics may, when appropriately scaffolded, reliably result in transformational consciousness experiences

    WEBINAR SESSION

    Date: Thursday 30 July 2020
    Time: 7:25pm for 7:30pm start – 8:30pm (incl Q&A) (AEST)

The presentation WILL BEGIN AT 7:30pm.

Location: Online. A link will be emailed to you with the viewing details.

Following the presentation there will be a Q & A panel with Professor Gregg Henriques (USA) and Tania de Jong AM. This will be an opportunity to engage in a discussion about psychedelic-assisted psychotherapies for mental illness broadly, and what Mind Medicine Australia and other local organisations are doing here in Australia.

    More about medicinal psychedelic treatments:

Psychedelic-assisted treatments offer enormous potential in providing a meaningful alternative to current treatments for mental illness. PTSD is a debilitating condition that affects tens of millions of people worldwide, with many more trauma victims diagnosed with comorbid conditions such as depression, anxiety and eating disorders. In recent clinical trials, MDMA has been shown to produce reliable clinical improvements, restoring patient safety and self-agency even for individuals who have suffered with PTSD for many years, and for whom many treatments have failed.

The wave of clinical psychedelic research and regulatory support is rapidly building, with experts forecasting the availability of psychedelic-assisted treatments in the US and EU within the next 2 to 5 years, subject to positive clinical outcomes in large trials that are currently underway.
