Event description

This event is for transgender, gender diverse, and nonbinary people.

About the session: The intention for the session is to explore gentle guided movement and restorative personal and collective care practices, including mindfulness, music, and journaling. We aim to offer grounding practices and tools to invite nervous system regulation.

Everything will be optional; folks will be encouraged to continually check in with themselves to see what feels good and to choose other options that might support diverse experiences. Wear comfortable clothing, and find a space you can move freely in. All ages are welcome at this session, but individuals under 18 will need to attend with a carer.

About the facilitator: Mykah (they/them) lives on unceded lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. They recently founded @homunculus.house, a therapeutic resource hub for the gender diverse, trans and queer communities. Mykah also works as a Psychotherapist at a Naarm based addiction hospital. For over a decade, they have been facilitating somatic workshops with a focused curiosity on the intersections of somatic psychotherapy and mindfulness. Mykah completed a Masters of Psychotherapy and Counselling after completing a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling. They are PACFA registered and integrate trauma-informed philosophy in all of their practice.

Refundable deposit: There is a $5 refundable deposit for this session, and as long as you either attend the session or cancel more than 1 day in advance, you will be refunded this cost. If you do not cancel with at least one day's notice, or you do not show up, you will be charged the $5. If you are committed to coming to the session but the $5 fee poses a financial barrier, please contact us at peersupport@tgv.org.au.
