Event: Mindful Nature Doodling
General information
Travel instructions
Bus: The closest bus stop is stop 21 Cashel street. The W91 or W91C bus service this stop, check Adelaide Metro (https://www.adelaidemetro.com.au/) for timetables and more information.
Entry instructions
If the weather is sunny and not raining, enter the garden behind the community centre, near where there are raised garden beds. If the weather does not permit being outside comfortably the workshop will be in the main hall, come through the main doors to the centre , which are white and will have a 'welcome sign' in front.
After entry instructions
Head to where you see tables set out - this will be inside or outside depending on the weather. An email will be sent the week of the event advising if the workshop will be held inside or out. You are welcome to make a name badge, then you can make a cup of tea or coffee if you'd like.
Hazards
The building has no insulation, so the temperature is identical to the temperature outside. Outside, there is a cement area that the workshop will be held on, but the paving to get there can be uneven. Inside, there is poor lighting and the floorboards may be slightly uneven. Furniture may be placed too close together for a wheelchair to fit through in some places. The tea station and kitchen are not at appropriate heights for wheelchair users.
Toilet location
The toilet furthest from the main hall entrance is accessible. It has a lowered sink and grab bars, but is not a Changing Places Facility, so is not accessible for everyone. The closest Changing Places facility is Michell Park Community Centre.
Accessible parking
There are 2 accessible car parks directly in front of the centre. There is a ramp to the side that leads to both the grassy outside and the main hall.
Deaf Access
While this workshop is not Auslan interpreted, the workshop facilitator is currently studying Auslan so has some basic knowledge. If the workshop takes place outside, there is little background noise. If it takes place inside, there may be increased noise as the hall can echo a lot. During the workshop, everyone will sit in a circle around tables, so people's faces will be visible to everyone.
Sensory Access
If the workshop is held outside, there will be little background noise (some from a nearby street and local residents). If inside, the building can get loud. There are a pair of earmuffs, but not other sensory aids are available. If you require a break during the workshop, there is another room in the hall that will not be used.
