Day One – Wednesday 28th August


Explore and deepen your understanding and practice of bringing mindfulness to leadership and life as it applies to:

  • Being less reactive and more responsive;
  • Prioritising time and tasks;
  • Co-creating a culture of inclusion

At the end of the day you will have increased self-awareness and practical strategies for:

  • Responding to change and challenge with calm and clarity
  • Transforming procrastination into productivity and making time for what really matters
  • Valuing multiple perspectives and making meetings meaningful

Day Two – Thursday 29th August 


Explore and deepen your understanding and practice of bringing mindfulness to leadership and life as it applies to:

  • Leaning into your values and cultivating courage
  • Knowing your boundaries and how to ride them
  • Ensuring psychosocial safety

At the end of the day you will have increased self-awareness and practical strategies for:

  • Being the change you want to see at work
  • Enabling candid conversations
  • Reducing stress and overwhelm

This program is designed and facilitated by renowned mindfulness exponent and educator Dr Sharn Rocco. Sharn is known for walking her talk. The past two decades of her long career as an educator, researcher and program designer have been dedicated to the study and practice of mindfulness and how mindfulness can improve efficacy, productivity, relationships and wellbeing at work, in leadership and life.

FAQs

What if I know nothing about mindfulness?

Not a problem. Whether you are completely new to the concept and practice of mindfulness or have been working with it for years, the program is designed to respond to who you are and where you are as a leader.

Do I need to sit on the floor?

Not at all. There will be a chair there for everyone but you are very welcome to sit on the floor if you prefer.

Is the program evidence based?

Yes. Sharn has been studying the practice of mindfulness and its effects for more than two decades. Her knowledge of the field has earned her invitations to speak at local and international conferences and to become scholar-in-residence at the Garrison Institute, NY. Her skills as a mindfulness-based facilitator, teacher and practitioner are renowned.

Is the program religious?

No. The program is entirely secular. Nonetheless, as well as being a career academic, teacher educator and certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction instructor, the depth, breadth and efficacy of the program is informed by Sharn’s study of traditional Buddhist texts and receiving instruction from distinguished exponents of mindfulness, including the Dalai Lama and Thich Nhat Hanh.

Are there discounts for group bookings?

Yes. Come as a team of two or more and pay only $495 each. (Save $247.50)

Can my employer pay by invoice?

How do I get to Magnetic Island? 

SeaLink Magnetic Island operates a regular ferry service from Townsville.

Are there airport transfers?

Yes. Book Townsville Shuttle online and you will be taken directly to the ferry terminal for only $10.

Can I arrive the night before and/or stay an extra day or more?

Yes. Adding time to your stay on Magnetic Island to work remotely and/or spend time exploring the natural wonders of the world heritage listed island is recommended. 

What should I bring?

When you register, you will receive an email with information about how to prepare, including a list of what to bring. The most important thing to bring is an open heart and an open mind.

Can I get a refund?

Yes and No. In the event of the organiser cancelling the event your registration fee will be returned in full. If you withdraw from the program your fee will be returned less a penalty based on notice given and pro rata costs.
