"How to Identify and Focus Your Church or Agency’s Unique Calling to Serve Your Community"

Session Purpose:

To equip Churches and Agencies with a practical framework for identifying, casting, and living out their unique vision focus, using proven tools and processes, while promoting healthy governance, collaboration, and sustainable outreach.

Date: Thursday, September 18 (Zoom)
Time:
 7pm – 9pm
Cost: $30

Guest Speaker: Karen Evans

Karen has been on staff at Kardinia Church for four years in the role of Community Services Manager and Missions Leader.  She has served in church all of her adult life from Youth Leading to the Board Room and everything in between.

A believer and Christ follower for more than 40 years with lived experience on the mission field in Papua New Guinea, Indigenous communities in the NT and now in Uganda, Karen is passionate about encouraging people to live missional lives, whether that is at home or overseas.

She knows ‘the church’ plays a fundamental role in taking the gospel message beyond the walls of our buildings and into our communities but doesn’t always know how to do that.  Along life’s journey Karen has learnt to ask the right questions, weave the vision and identity of the local church into mission activities, develop criteria for missional engagement and collaborate with other churches/agencies for wider Kingdom outcomes.

Professionally, Karen was an emergency nurse for more than 30 years and a university lecturer for 12 years in the School of Nursing & Midwifery at Deakin.  She resigned from her nursing career at the end of 2021 believing God’s call to ministry in the local church.

Academically, Karen holds a Bachelor of Nursing, Graduate Diploma in International Health and Development and has completed Biblical Studies of the Old and New Testament, Poverty and Community Development, Intercultural Studies and Adult Learning and Assessment.

Karen is married to Mark and they have 2 adult children, Alex (married to Katelyn) and Liz (married to Micah).
