The Minnesota tech community’s biggest day of the year is back.

First held in 2006, Minnebar is Minnesota’s annual technology (un)conference — built by and for the community.

Like other BarCamps, Minnebar is participant-led with a loose structure, allowing people from the community to share what they know, what they’re building, and what they’re curious about. BarCamps happen all over the world, and Minnebar is rumored to be the longest-running in the Western Hemisphere.

Minnebar is free and open to anyone with an interest in tech. It’s one of the few days where the MN tech community shows up — not to pitch, but to share, learn, and build together.

How it works

• Anyone can host a session (seriously, you!)

• Community voting helps shape the schedule, published the week of the event

• Vote with your presence, move between sessions freely throughout the day or hang in the "hallway track"

Schedule

If you’ve only been to traditional conferences, Minnebar will feel different. Last year we had 150+ sessions throughout the day. It’s busy and a little chaotic, and that’s kind of the point! The schedule is built by the community, so a final schedule is only available days before the event. For now, you can submit a session or vote for the ones you want to attend.

The general flow of the day is:

• 8:00 | Doors Open, Registration & Light Breakfast

• 8:30 – 9:30 | Kickoff & Session 0

• 9:45 – 12:15 | Morning Sessions

• 11:20 – 1:25 | Lunch (rolling lunch, sessions and lunch overlap by design)

• 12:30 – 4:50 | Afternoon Sessions

• 4:50 – 7:00 | Third Annual Charles Edge Social Hour

• 7:00 | Event Concludes

Tickets

Your ticket includes complimentary breakfast, lunch, snacks, and social hour appetizers. We release tickets in two rounds - and they go fast!

Minnebar is for the whole community — builders, tinkerers, founders, designers, students, and the tech-curious (of all ages). It’s a day to share what you know, explore what you don’t, and connect with people who are building alongside you. Come as you are (you’ll see everything from hoodies to blazers) and be ready to participate!

Best Buy Corporate Campus is located at: 7601 Penn Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55423 (Google Maps)

Detailed directions for parking (in the Best Buy parking ramp off Penn Ave) and public transportation can be found in our Ultimate Guide to Minnebar20. Please remember, construction season in Minnesota has officially begun — give yourself a few extra minutes to arrive.

IN A MOTOR VEHICLE

Park in the Best Buy parking ramp (free) off Penn Ave. Do not park in the visitor lot. Enter via doors on the north side (P1N, P2N, P3N), signs will be posted.

ON THE BUS

• Penn Ave: Use sidewalk to transit entrance (intercom access)

• 76th Street: Follow sidewalk to transit entrance (intercom required)

• Knox Ave: Not recommended, limited access

ON A BICYCLE OR FOOT

Please enter at the transit entrance at 76th & Newton and use intercom for entry. Bike racks are available.

Fuel up!

We’ve got you covered with breakfast, lunch, snacks, and social hour apps. Coffee, water, beer, wine, and NA beverages will be available. We aim to offer options for a variety of dietary needs (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, etc.), though availability may vary.

Access for All

We are committed to creating events where everyone can fully participate. Here are some notes for this event:

• Entrances & Seating: Best Buy HQ is fully wheelchair accessible, with elevators and accessible seating available. Let us know if you’d like reserved seating.

• Restrooms: Accessible, gender-neutral & family restrooms are available onsite.

• Caregiver & Wellness Room: A private room is located near Sandy's place.

• Food & Drink: We aim to provide options for a variety of dietary needs (non-alcoholic, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, etc). A menu will be posted here closer to the event.

• Kiddos: We love seeing young techies of all ages at Minnestar events, we just ask that anyone under 16 be supervised by an adult at all times. Childcare is available for children 1-12, but limited, please sign up when registering.
