Hazards

Hazards for Guests with Disabilities We’ve designed the Minnesota Ice Festival to be as inclusive and accessible as possible, but there are a few potential challenges to keep in mind: Surface Conditions: The festival is built on a turf field with plastic armor decking laid down for added stability. However, this surface will be largely covered in snow, which may create conditions similar to walking on an outdoor trail in the winter. Additionally, the maze is constructed on gravel, which will also be covered in snow, requiring extra care when navigating. Guests should wear sturdy, winter-appropriate footwear for the safest experience. Temperature Sensitivity: As a fully outdoor winter event, cold temperatures are part of the experience. We encourage guests to dress in warm layers and take breaks at our Warming House or near one of the fire pits to stay comfortable. Activity Access: Certain activities, such as the Ice Slide, require stair access, which may not be fully accessible to all guests. We recommend reaching out to our staff if you need alternative accommodations or further information about specific activities. Snow-Covered Paths: While we work hard to maintain pathways, please be aware that snow-covered areas may pose additional challenges, similar to walking on outdoor winter trails. ADA Access: Guests requiring ADA access can enter through the first-floor entrance on the east side of the stadium. This entry point is designed to ensure smoother access to the event grounds. Staff will be on hand to assist and guide you as needed. Need Assistance? We’re here to help! If you have any specific concerns or require assistance during your visit, please reach out to us at info@minnesotaicefestival.com or speak to one of our staff members during the event. Our goal is to make your experience as enjoyable and inclusive as possible.

Toilet location

Toilet Directions We want to ensure all our guests have easy access to restroom facilities during their visit to the Minnesota Ice Festival. Indoor Bathrooms: Our indoor bathrooms are located on the concourse level, one level up from the field, on the south side of the stadium. To access these restrooms, use the staircases near the event entrances to proceed up to the concourse. ADA-Accessible Bathrooms: For guests requiring ADA-accessible facilities, dedicated restrooms are available on the south-east side of the Jumbotron screen, just past the emergency exit. These facilities are designed to provide easy access and meet all accessibility standards. If you need assistance finding restroom facilities, our event staff are here to help guide you. Enjoy your time at the Minnesota Ice Festival!

What Should I Wear to the Minnesota Ice Festival?

What to Wear to the Minnesota Ice Festival Attending the Minnesota Ice Festival is an unforgettable winter adventure, but dressing appropriately is key to ensuring your comfort and safety. Here are some detailed recommendations for what to wear: 1. Layer Up for Warmth The festival is an outdoor winter event, so dressing in layers is essential: Base Layer: Moisture-wicking thermal or long underwear to keep sweat off your skin. Middle Layer: Insulating layers such as fleece or a sweater to trap heat. Outer Layer: A waterproof and windproof winter coat to protect against snow and cold winds. 2. Protect Your Extremities Cold weather affects your hands, feet, and head the most, so don’t forget these: Hat: A warm, insulated hat that covers your ears. Gloves or Mittens: Insulated, waterproof gloves or mittens to keep your hands warm and dry. Scarf or Neck Gaiter: Protect your neck and face from cold air. Winter Socks: Wool or thermal socks to keep your feet warm and dry. 3. Choose the Right Footwear Walking on snow and ice is part of the fun, but it’s crucial to have appropriate footwear: Waterproof Winter Boots: Insulated boots with good traction to prevent slipping on icy surfaces. Snow Grips or Ice Cleats (Optional): For added traction, consider attaching cleats to your boots. 4. Optional Accessories for Extra Comfort Hand and Foot Warmers: Disposable heat packs to keep your fingers and toes toasty. Sunglasses or Goggles: Protect your eyes from the sun reflecting off the ice. Backpack: Carry extra layers, snacks, or small essentials hands-free. 5. What Not to Wear Cotton Layers: Avoid cotton, as it retains moisture and will make you feel colder. Fashion Shoes: Leave non-insulated or slippery-soled shoes at home. Inadequate Outerwear: Thin jackets or non-waterproof clothing won’t keep you comfortable. Pro Tip: Before heading out, check the weather forecast and adjust your clothing accordingly. Remember, it’s better to have too many layers that you can remove than not enough. Dressing smartly will ensure you’re warm, comfortable, and ready to enjoy all the frosty fun the Minnesota Ice Festival has to offer!
