Hera was born and raised in Titirangi, Waitakere and now lives there and also in Maungatāpere, Northland.
After training for several years in an informal apprenticeship, to practice the art of romiromi/mirimiri and also to hold space for healing – one-on-one and in group wānanga, she began her own practice.
Hera is driven to create change in our world through sharing the mātauranga that has been shared with her, thereby empowering others to heal themselves and their whanau and communities.
A passionate teacher, healer and artist that is inspired by ‘Te Kore’ the void of potential from which everything springs forth. Hera wants to create opportunities for telling the stories of our ancestors. To help lift those of our people, step out of the intergenerational trauma that is holding them in patterns of survival and preventing them from thriving. All people having equal opportunity to thrive and achieve their true potential is something she feels very strongly about, which can only happen if we shift and heal the trauma that has been imbedded in our dna. Learning and experiencing our traditional healing arts is a powerful way to do this.
Hera has experience working with people with long term injuries, sexual abuse, domestic violence, methamphetamine drug addiction, homelessness, post-traumatic stress disorder and more. Together with these people we have achieved amazing changes for them and their whanau. Changes they had lost almost all hope of ever achieving.
Hera is working to improve access to mātauranga and wellbeing practices found within Rongoa – including but not limited to romiromi, mirimiri, and overall wellbeing related to many aspects including our kai (food), our whakaaro (thoughts) our kare-a-roto(emotions), and our wairuatanga (spirituality).
Hera is currently working as a kairomiromi privately, as an ACC vendor within Tamaki and Te Tai Tokerau, alongside Turuki Healthcare in Tamaki facilitates and delivers wānanga to help our people process the challenges they are dealing with including domestic violence, injury, grief and loss, intergenerational trauma, and also training tauira (students) on their journey to becoming kairomiromi and wairua practitioners.
Wellbeing is about connection and Hera is compelled to help people connect to themselves, each other, their ancestral stories, whenua and whakapapa.
Hera is passionate about helping to bring about this change and believes that our traditional practices have the ability to help whanau to shift from a life of struggling to survive, to thriving and realising their innate potential.
In this webinar, Hera introduces
- Romiromi & Mirimiri; ancient and traditional forms of healing based on Maori philosophies surrounding holistic wellbeing.
- Presents how they can be used to help relieve everything from everyday ailments to inherited traumas and more
- Tells stories of the profound benefits to be found from receiving these treatments.
Mirimiri invigorates and energises our body, clearing and lifting the burdens that we tend to carry within our bodies.
On a basic level, romiromi can help to ease the physical pains and strains held within our bodies, accumulated through daily life.
On a deeper level, romiromi can help to release emotional, psychological and spiritual traumas. Our bodies hold cellular memories of energy - every emotion, thought and experience that we encounter in our lives is stored somewhere within our bodies.
This energy accumulates, leading to dis-ease and is also then passed down through our family line, meaning pain – psychological, emotional, spiritual or physical, can and will often become generational - we inherit and we gift the inheritance of pain through the generations of our families unless we disrupt or heal these
We can use romiromi to help release these energies, helping to ease pain, emotional tension, stress, illness and trauma thereby setting ourselves and our future generations free.
This is incredibly important and sacred work.
The webinar will be recorded and everyone will be sent a recording after the webinar. If you can't attend, you have the option of registering and recieving a webinar recording.
We welcome everyone to this webinar.
