Mirror Clippers "Funeral" single launch + Emerald Woods + Motorinn + The Satts
Event description
Inspired by bands such as Beak> and Thee Oh Sees, genre defying two-piece power psych rock band from Preston, Mirror Clippers feature Daniel Brates on drums and SiB on Gass, a hybrid guitar-bass. Creating sonic waves never heard before, together, Daniel and SiB have given birth to a unique sounding band that will transport you surfing way beyond the stars above and back to earth and back up again within one heartbeat, one breath and the blink of an eye. They will be launching their first single "Funeral" on Saturday 9th of November at Nighthawks Bar in Collingwood with support from Emerald Woods, Motorinn and The Satts.
Mirror Clippers only formed back in June 2023. Funeral is the first ever single to be released by the band with the B-side Battle of Rage.
The forthcoming Mirror Clippers debut LP was mastered by Mikey Young (Amyl & The Sniffers, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard) on the 15th of October 2024. The album was recorded on the 27th of September 2023 (9 songs recorded in one day) at Soundpark Studios in Northcote by Andrew "Idge" Hehir (Beasts of Bourbon, Georgia Night), the vocal overdubs were recorded by Jules Pascoe (Clairy Brown & The Banging Rackets, Husky, Jazz Party) at Hope Street Studios in Brunswick in early 2024. Then the album was mixed back at Soundpark by Idge in March 2024.
Emerald Woods is a hyperactive synth punk project from Naarm. Influenced by punk, dance, pop, emo & noise, their lyrics are infectious, telling stories that are sincerely whimsical. Accompanied bycolourfully woven soundscapes that are both frenetically delirious and comical, "employable" is the first single from their self-titled EP out in June. It is an intimate reflection on one of the artists favourite pastimes, seeking jobs.
Motorinn - Headed up by the brilliant blues guitarist TK Reeves and Motorsport journalist TW Neal (Baritone), the MotorInn thrive in a pumping brand of self styled “Throttle Rock”. Backed by desert rockers Rhys Davitt and Thomas McGregor, listening to the MotorInn is like being stuck in a garage with a cantankerous V8 Hemi. Good talk.
The Satts are an indie/pop/rock band from the southeast, formed in March 2024. Following the release of their debut single, “Hands,” in late August, the five-piece is eager to bring their music to new audiences, with a desire to create entertaining performances that focus on crowd enjoyment.
Mirror Clippers are a two piece band from Preston, Naarm-Melbourne, Australia. We acknowledge the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation as custodians of the land on which we work, live and play.
