Upcycling with Mirror embroidery
Event description
This is a community collaboration with the wonderful I Love Avondale
Renowned for her Nokshi Kotha workshop's, Sahana Rahman is sharing her knowledge on another South Asian art form: Mirror (Shisha) embroidery. This technique is frequently used as a decorative element on South Asian clothing and accessories. Sahana incorporates this method into her artwork, creating wall art and keychains.
This experience invites you to learn about Mirror embroidery and encourages you to bring a fabric item you’d like to upcycle with this technique. If you prefer, you can also practice other embroidery stitches.Â
Come along and learn this exquisite art form. This is an all-community event, and learners of all ability levels are welcome. Â
All registration proceeds will be donated to The Skaik Family (@theskaikfamily) in Palestine. Â
When:Â Â August 3rd, 11am - 2pm
Where:Â Haven, 1855 Great North Road, Avondale, Auckland 1026
