Event description

Just in time for Samhain, come join Heather FD for the Relational Magic in Parent Work workshop series. This event is for you if you want a different take on the way we come intentionally into sessions and connect with the parents of the children we work with. If you’re a therapist who’s a little witchy, a little symbolic, and a little magical, come join us!

The Playful Integration Approach to Parent Work in Play Therapy is a multi-layered approach to working deeply with the parents and caregivers of the children you see as a therapist. The approach blends authenticity, willingness to be uncomfortable, the science of compassion, lovingkindness, and play therapy, to create a container that allows the parent to enter into a neuroception of wonderful and relieving felt safety with the therapist - which the parent can then recreate at home with their child. It truly is relational magic! Come join Heather FD as she shares her way of Being in the playroom with parents and the many ways that she co-creates the real magic - reconnecting parents to their children in profound ways.

You’ll get a ticket for the second workshop in the Relational Magic in Parent Work series:

10/14: Mirror Magic: Compassionate Imagery with Parents

Up next in the Relational Magic in the Playroom Series - Mirror Magic: Compassionate Imagery with Parents. This is a mostly experiential workshop focused on helping you hone your reflective and interoceptive awareness. We’ll do interventions together that help us hone that part of ourselves deep inside our bodies that gives us our felt sense of safety. How do we get really good at feeling the signals our nervous system is giving us? Come explore your somatic knowing with me! We’ll talk about mirror neurons, the nervous system, and self-compassion in play therapy.

This workshop series is for you if:

You sometimes think that you don't like working with parents

You feel like you don't know what you're doing when parents are in the room

You say things like "I love working with kids, but the parents...ugh."

You feel anxious when you have a parent session coming up

You avoid working 1:1 with parents and don't usually do parent consultation or parent only sessions

You have a sense that there's magic in family therapy but you're not sure how to tap into it.

All workshops run from 5:15pm to 6:15pm Pacific time, Mondays in October.

As always, I work on a sliding scale, so when you click to register, you’ll notice that there are 3 different ticket tiers. Playful Integration strives for accessibility to play therapy education. If you work in a community mental health setting or similar, in a place where the cost-of-living is significantly different than most of the United States, work with underserved or marginalized populations, or identify as BIPOC, you are invited to take the "Bottom of the Scale" registration. You can also reach out to me if this is still not accessible to you and you would like to discuss a lower rate. You can use this scale to help you decide what ticket makes the most sense for you.
