Misfit Table Fosters Human Wholeness

MISFIT TABLE BACKSTORY

In Angie & Greg's backyard, a remarkable group of individuals gathered around a fire, sharing Angie’s home-cooked chili and absorbing the wisdom of Rebekah Lyons, Kristi McLelland, and myself (Hi, I'm Tiffini Kilgore.)

The air was a chilling 30 degrees, but the warmth of community and the scent of open fire got in us.
That night, something magical happened, we were eyewitnesses to the power of holding space for the unplanned and unexpected.

When I awoke the next day, I still smelled of smoke and fire, a tangible reminder of the mystery of connection and warmth we shared.

Since that birthing night, over six years ago, my journey has been one of navigating something like creative tension.

I felt despite the fractures in our world, life reveals its insistence on our wholeness, intertwining our bodies, nature, and the lives we build.

Ever since, I’ve felt our ultimate calling is to make this unity tangible and real, beginning within ourselves.

In hindsight, I saw this is this was the work God and I were doing all along.
Mostly in the invisible: untangling my womanhood.
Deep inner healing, unraveling knots of lies, conditioning, and trauma my body carried.

My exploration of untangling my womanhood and its impact on my narrative, a topic I began to uncover in my memoir, Misfit Table (my memoir), but only began to scratch the surface.

In 2019, while sitting at the end of my driveway, I sensed God whispering, "Help is on the way." At the time, I had no idea what form this help would take or what it meant, but I embraced God's words as a beacon of hope. Indeed, help arrived, manifesting through people—remarkably, some of them were trauma counselors.

In May 2019, at another gathering of the Misfit Table, I found the support I needed.
These women have been by my side for the past five years, offering unwavering withness.

Looking ahead, my heart is set on creating what I desperately needed but lacked: a community of safe people and safe spaces.

Initially for myself, but ultimately for others as well.
Your support for this gathering is paving the way for Amy and Megan to come to my home in Kansas City.
I'm overwhelmed with joy at God's faithfulness—it's a miracle that I now get to share them with you!

Despite the years of grieving personal endings, I've held onto a belief in something-more, a calling towards life itself.

As 2024 began, I felt a pull towards reigniting Misfit Table, a nudge that wouldn't let go, signaling a beginning.
A beginning of what I don’t know.

However, I now know we serve human wholeness — the life of the mind, the truth of the body, the wild mystery of the human spirit, and our need for each other.

Misfit Table isn't just an event; it's a pioneering journey into finding your footing with life-giving practices as we navigate a world filled with pain and laden with promise.

It's about moving beyond passive consumption to active participation, being a part of a growing badass sisterhood, and discovering our truest selves.

It's time to courage up!
