Mission Inc. Coffee: A Student-led Initiative
Event description
We are excited to launch Mission Inc. Coffee, a new student-led initiative that will serve great coffee while making a meaningful impact in our community. All proceeds will go directly to Mission Inc., with specific support for the School’s Buddy Up Respite Program, which provides vital care and support to families in need.
Thanks to the generosity of the St Peter’s Old Collegians, we have purchased a second-hand caravan to refurbish into a coffee van. This is an exciting first step – but we need your help to bring the project to life.
You can support us in three ways:
Donations – to help fund the refurbishment.
Expertise – we are calling for volunteer plumbers and electricians. To register your interest please email schoolcaptain@stpeters.sa.edu.au
Materials – donate items to assist with the fit-out. Click here to view list of materials
Your support – whether financial, practical, or material – will help Mission Inc. grow and continue its proud legacy of service in our community.
About St Peter’s College Mission Inc.
Mission Inc. has been a central part of our School’s story since 1908, when Canon Hornabrook and Headmaster Reverend Henry Girdlestone established a school mission to serve Adelaide’s most vulnerable communities. Since then, it has supported initiatives such as the Magdalene Centre, the Elizabeth Mission and St John’s Youth Services, while also giving students opportunities for hands-on service.
Over the last 15 years alone, Mission Inc. has gifted more than $1 million to various Anglican charities. Not to be confused with the Mission Guild, Mission Inc. is a separate registered charity that represents the service activities of our students. While both share similar goals, the Mission Guild is a parent-run organisation that operates under the umbrella of the School. The Mission Guild played a vital role in the success of Mission Inc. in the early years.
Today, Mission Inc. continues to provide support to Adelaide’ most vulnerable communities through Anglican charities and St Peter’s College’s own Buddy Up Program. Mission Inc. Coffee is our way of carrying forward this proud legacy, while encouraging students to live out our values of truth, respect and service.
What is Buddy Up?
Buddy Up is St Peter’s College’s after-school respite program designed to make a meaningful difference in the lives of families in our wider community. Its objectives are threefold:
Support for parents – giving parents raising a child living with disability a well-deserved break.
A safe, engaging space for children – providing a friendly environment where children can participate in fun, inclusive activities.
Learning through service – offering our students authentic opportunities to connect with and learn from individuals with unique life experiences.
Through Buddy Up, our community comes together in the spirit of Pro Deo et Patria to serve others with compassion, respect and joy.
