Mistletoe and Woodland Health
Event description
Free Mistletoe Webinar! Thursday 7 August | 6:00–7:00pm AEST
Optional Field Workshop – Saturday 9 August | Location TBA (ACT–Yass region)
Join us for an engaging online session exploring the often misunderstood role of mistletoe in woodland ecosystems — and its surprising connections to native birds, reptiles, insects, and overall landscape health.
We’re thrilled to be joined by Professor David Watson, renowned ornithologist and ecologist who is also an internationally recognised expert and author on Mistletoe; and BirdLife's own Kristy Peters, woodland bird specialist and mistletoe researcher, bringing field expertise and insight to this important topic.
In this free, one-hour webinar, we’ll unpack the ecology of mistletoe, challenge some common myths, and share practical insights for landholders, bird enthusiasts, and anyone interested in biodiversity and conservation.
This event is open to all! You don’t need to be a BirdLife member or based in the ACT-Yass region to attend the webinar.
Participants who attend the webinar will also be invited to a follow-up, in-person field workshop on Saturday 9 August (location to be confirmed, within the ACT-Yass area), where we’ll look at mistletoe in the landscape and discuss practical management strategies.
Please note: The field workshop is only open to those who attend the webinar.
Free to attend. Registration essential.
