Mitzvah Day at Emanuel Synagogue
Event description
Mitzvah Day is an opportunity to put our Jewish values into practice.
On Sunday, November 24, we invite the whole community to a morning of working together to make a positive difference in our world.
The day will include a range of activities—even storytime for our little ones with author Susan Banki—and many ways to contribute to the healing of the planet.
In the lead-up, we are seeking donations of the following items, which you will be helping us to pack into care packages on the day, in support of two important charities:
Share the Dignity
- shampoo and conditioner
- toothpaste
- toothbrush (individually wrapped)
- body wash and soap
- roll-on deodorant
- sealed tampons and pads
- muesli bars
- dried fruit
- fruit cups
- juice boxes (poppers)
- small packets of chips or crackers
- other small non-perishable individually packed food items
If you can't be with us on the day, you can still participate by donating these important items. Please bring them to our campus and leave them in the assigned baskets in our foyer. We will also be taking cash donations on the day and you can donate in advance below or here. Every contribution makes a world of difference.
In addition to the packing bees, we will showcase an electrification station to provide information about making the environment and our lives more sustainable, including an induction cooking demonstration. Storytime for children will run every half hour with Susan Banki, whose book follows these themes.
Register to help us prepare for the day. We look forward to coming together to give back.
