Jazz Loft presents: Afternoon Tea with the Mix Tape Choir and Reid+Wolken

The Mix Tape Choir project was founded in 2015 by vocalist Karin Reid, who wanted to create opportunities for people who love to sing to build confidence and share their voices in an informal group setting. At the heart of the project is an open-access kaupapa, with no auditions, that aims to empower its participants.

Over the past ten years, countless songs have been shared, learned and sung, bringing people together through a variety of offerings.

For these special performances, nine singers have come together from among those who have attended past workshops or weekly sessions, taking up the challenge of preparing to perform in public. Over several months, Reid has curated a set of popular songs from the Mix Tape repertoire, workshopping and arranging harmonies for the group.

We are delighted to be joined by guitarist Alex Wolken, who will accompany the singers. The afternoon will also feature a special set of jazz standards and ballads performed by the duo Reid+Wolken.

Doors open 4.15pm

Music starts 4.30pm

Interval with Afternoon tea provided

Ends 6.30pm approximately
