    Mixed Media Collage 

    Group: Ages: Adults (limited to 6 students)

    Date and Time: Sunday, September 22 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM

    Workshop Overview

    This engaging and hands-on workshop will allow participants to explore the creative possibilities of mixed media collage. Using a variety of materials, students will create unique collages over their drawings. The workshop will focus on working from still life and human figures, with opportunities to create both a collaborative large piece and individual projects.

    Workshop Objectives

    Introduce participants to mixed media collage techniques.

    • Encourage creative expression using various materials.

    • Develop skills in integrating collage with drawing.

    • Foster collaborative and individual artistic projects.


    Workshop Schedule

    11:00 AM - 11:30 AM: Introduction and Setup

    • Welcome and brief overview of the workshop.

    • Introduction to materials and tools provided.

    • Quick demonstration of basic collage techniques.

    11:30 AM - 12:30 PM: Warm-Up Exercises

    • Quick sketching from still life and human figures.

    • Creating base drawings for collages.

    • Group discussion and sharing initial ideas.

    12:30 PM - 1:00 PM : Lunch Break

    Participants are encouraged to bring a packed lunch or snacks.

    1:00 PM - 2:00 PM: Collaborative Project

    Working on a large collaborative collage piece.

    • Combining individual drawings into a cohesive group artwork.

    • Experimenting with layering and mixed media materials.

    2:00 PM - 3:00 PM: Individual Projects

    Creating individual mixed media collages.

    • Applying techniques learned to personal drawings.

    • Final touches and group critique.

    Materials Provided

    Variety of papers (colored, textured, patterned).

    • Glue sticks and liquid glue.

    • Scissors and craft knives.

    • Magazines and printed images for cut-outs.

    • Fabric scraps and ribbons.

    • Paints and brushes.

    • Markers and colored pencils.

    • Other assorted embellishments (beads, buttons, etc.).

    Cost: $100

    ( + $25 payable to the instructor for materials)

    At the end of the course there will be an exhibition of students’ work at the Georgetown Book Hill Library.

    Sarah studied fine arts at the renowned art school in Paris, France (École Supérieure Des Beaux Arts - Paris, France), and Graphic Design at University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). She’s an accomplished artist, educator and curator.
