MJMS January Holiday Workshops 2025

These January Holidays, we have a huge range of fantastic workshops available at MJMS. 

There is something to suit everybody, no matter your skill level or instrument preference. 

WORKSHOP DATES:

THURS 23RD JAN - 1hr Individual Composition Workshops - $65+GST per person

Are you studying a musical instrument and would love to learn to compose your own pieces? Now is your chance!! We are holding 1hr private Composition workshops on Thurs 23rd Jan to help you get all those amazing tunes out of your head and down on paper. If you don't have a song in mind, we will help you create one! Once you are happy with your song, you will be shown how to play your piece on a Midi Keyboard which will transport your piece into notation software ready to print and take home to play for your family and friends!

- Minimum Age 8yrs - Minimum 1yr study of an instrument required for this workshop.
- Only 6 spots available.
- Upon booking you will be contacted to allocate you to a 1hr timeslot between 9am & 4pm. 


FRIDAY 24th JAN - 9-3pm 

Descendants Musical Theatre - Suitable for Ages 6-16yrs

$125+GST per child

If your child loves to sing, dance and act this workshop will have them doing all 3 in our music theatre workshops. Students will work on a song chosen by our amazing Music Theatre teacher Mikaela, learn choreography and acting to perform at the end of the workshop for parents to come in and see. This 6hr workshop is high energy and fast paced, to keep students moving and interested to learn the entire song and dance. Students are welcome to wear a favourite costume for their chosen musical theatre workshop, or comfortable clothes and shoes are acceptable. Students will need to bring a water bottle. 

Lunch will be provided by MJMS for each student.

TUES 28TH Jan 10-11am
Electronic Music Workshop - Suitable for Ages 6yrs and above

$55+GST per person

Join Carlin McLellan, a Registered Music Therapist and experienced producer for a dynamic workshop on electronic music production. Explore beat-making, synthesizers, and DJing in a fun and inclusive environment. Perfect for all skill levels, this session combines hands-on learning with creative exploration.

This will be followed by a FREE info session from 11-11:45am for the community to come in and discover WHAT IS MUSIC THERAPY?? Booking required to obtain number attendance, through this website or call 0448 971 213.

TUES 28th 12:30-3:30pm

Frozen Music Theatre Tween Workshop - Suitable for 10-16yrs

$65+GST per child

Embrace your favourite Frozen character at our half-day fast paced Music Theatre workshop. Spend the afternoon working on your singing, acting and choreography to one of the movies most loved songs, and prepare for an end of day video performance that you will get to take home and keep to show all of your friends and family.

Students can come dressed as their favourite Frozen character. Comfortable shoes are recommended, and students should bring a bottle of water.

WED 29th JAN 9am-3pm
Taylor Swift Workshop - Suitable for 6-16yrs

$125+GST per child

If your child loves to sing and dance to all the Tay Tay songs, this workshop is for them. Students will work on a song chosen by our amazing Music Theatre teacher Mikaela, learning lyrics and choreography to perform at the end of the workshop which will be videoed for students to watch at home with their family, make friendship bracelets to take home and watch some of the Eras Tour throughout the day. This 6hr workshop is high energy and fast paced, to keep students moving and interested to learn the entire song and dance. Students are welcome to wear a favourite costume with a Taylor Swift theme, or comfortable clothes and shoes are acceptable. Students will need to bring a water bottle. 

Lunch will be provided by MJMS for each student.

THUR 30TH JAN 10AM-11:30AM

African Drumming Workshop - Suitable for ages 12+yrs
$40+GST per person

Find rhythm and flow with this beginner focused West African Drumming workshop facilitated by Djembe Alchemy. This workshop is accessible to people of all levels of drumming experience, including beginners. 

What to expect: In a beginner Djembe Alchemy workshop, we generally start by settling in, finding our spot and a drum and introducing ourselves.  We will warm up with a rhythm activity, go over some basics of how to drum and then start to learn a traditional West African rhythm.  By the end we will be rocking the rhythm together with big smiles.  You will hopefully go home feeling happy, activated, energised but also with a sense of release. 

Drums provided.

Moana Music Theatre Workshop - Suitable for ages 6-16yrs

$65+GST per child
