MoA Drawing: Brett McMahon Nature Studies

Led by Newcastle local, and artist, Brett McMahon to uncover forms, structures and storylines in the natural and built environments. Working across mediums of pencil, paint and water colour.

What to bring

• Drawing tools (pencil/s, eraser, sharpener, etc)

• Brush

• Paints (watercolour or water based preferable) if you have them although some will be supplied and shared

• Drawing pad (high gsm if intending to use water colour) although some paper will be available.

About Brett McMahon

Brett McMahon is an Australian artist who makes paintings, drawings and sculptural installations

which uncover forms, structures and storylines in the natural and built environments.

McMahon’s works are characterized by robust compositions that resonate with the world, offering

distilled and poetic responses to his surroundings. His use of bold lines, organic shape and texture,

and a keen eye for spatial relationships defines his unique approach to abstraction.

Brett has held over 30 solo exhibitions in commercial and public galleries and his works have been

collected in public, private and corporate collections in Australia, Asia, Europe and the US.
