The one-day course goes into detail about the ICT Accessibility Symposium’s Mobile Site and Native App Accessibility Guidelines.
The methodology will be discussed in detail including:
Testing methods for mobile sites (including how to capture errors)
Types of mobile sites (desktop, m dot and responsive)
Identifying variations of a page in responsive sites
Testing methods for native apps (including how to capture errors)
Defining application functionality in native apps to identify what needs to be tested
How to identify what devices to test on
Usefulness of mobile simulators and automated accessibility testing tools
Assistive technologies and how to test with them
The methodology will be covered in detail, including issues such as:
Traps that feature in mobile sites and native apps
Accessible name, role, value
Touch gestures
Geolocation
Change of state
Use of colour and colour contrast
Indicating functionality
Use of standard elements
Consistency across Android and iOS apps
Assistive technologies will be demonstrated, and attendees will have an opportunity to test with these assistive technologies, such as:
