Event description

Learn modern Skinnfell from a five-year instructor of this ancient Norwegian folk art! Students will learn the art of block printing with ink on sheepskin, and the basics of sewing sheepskin by hand to make your own unique throw pillow. The finished 16”x16” pillow will have your beautiful artwork on one side, and luxurious sheep fleece on the other. Instruction will include anecdotes about the ancient tradition of Skinnfell, its historic design elements and uses. Students should bring (if possible) sharp, pointed tip scissors, a fine-tip pen that does not bleed, and a thimble. Instructor will provide for student use during class: sheepskin pillow squares, blocks/stamps, ink in various colors, rulers, paint rollers, brushes and binder clips. Extra sheepskins and block printing starter kits will be available for purchase.
