Mohilaa Album Launch
Event description
Please join us in celebrating the release of Alt/RnB band, Mohilaa's debut album, 'Return to One's Homeland'. This landmark gig for the band is sure to be a night of beautiful soul music, especially considering the caliber of the support acts of Juman and The Seeding.
'Return to One's Homeland' is a special release marking the band's entrance into the world of experimental soul music. Over the course of two years, Mohilaa has crafted an 8-track surrealist journey of psychedelic washed grooves that both remark on contemporary soul and the sounds of Bangladesh, resulting in a new take on the genre.
Fronted by singer Tashmeen, the album's lyrical content speaks to empowerment, freedom, and compassion. When the duo travelled to Bangladesh, Tashmeen's homeland, the album concept was formed. Keyboardist and songwriter Oliver Gwilym spent the time collecting soundscapes and musical elements to incorporate into the textural layers of the music, whilst Tashmeen wrote melodies inspired by her family and the immersive experience of travelling in Bangladesh.
Interwoven melodies, combining analog electronic elements and smooth, often virtuosic vocals, have shaped the album's sound, and in the true spirit of Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon' the album has been strung together beautifully by producer Omer Zaidi.
Joining the band will be support acts, Juman and The Seeding, some of Byron's Bay's most notable female-fronted soul artists The night at Howl and Moan records will truely show off the rising talent of the area.
Don't miss out on this unforgettable night of live music, and listen to 'Return to One's Homeland' in full for the first time.
