MOKAU POLOOZA
Description
Mokau Palooza is a laid‑back, family‑friendly summer festival that brings our coastal community together for a full day of music, kai, creativity, and good vibes. Set in the heart of Mōkau, it’s a celebration of local talent, local flavour, and the relaxed beachside lifestyle that makes our region special.
Homegrown bands and performers take the stage throughout the day, showcasing the incredible talent from across Taranaki and Waikato. From chilled acoustic sets to upbeat crowd‑pleasers, the music creates the perfect soundtrack for a summer gathering.
The festival grounds come alive with:
local food trucks and homemade kai
craft stalls featuring artists, makers, and small businesses
community groups fundraising with treats, raffles, and activities
It’s the kind of place where you wander with a coffee or ice cream in hand, chat with stallholders, and discover something new around every corner.
Camping is available, making Mokau Palooza a relaxed overnight adventure for families, travellers, and summer road‑trippers. Kids roam safely, whānau spread out picnic blankets, and visitors settle in for a cruisy day of sunshine and entertainment.

Dude Where's My Guitar
Dude Where's My Guitar formed in New Plymouth in 2021 when Frank Hick, freshly back from overseas, started jamming with his brother Jimmy, learning covers of all the favourite songs from their teenage years. After an initial stint as a 3 piece, They were joined by Callum Wagstaff, who brought extra vocals, guitar and a whole lot of stage presence. The band was complete when metal band veteran Jed Dawkins joined on the drums. They have been building up their fan base ever since by playing pub gigs, festivals, weddings and parties. If you want an epic night out singing and dancing along to all the best rock bangers from the 90s and 00s, Dude will rock you all night long!

The Slacks
Shimmering, subversive singalongs that are at once dire and light-hearted, weighted perfectly for a world stitched up and coming apart at the seams. theSlacks are all over the folk-pop-rock spectrum, delivering danceable beats, joyful indie-pop, and a refreshingly real vibe that resonates with questing minds in these testing times. It's difficult to pin the band to one genre and this is reflected in the various genre-tags theSlacks have claimed over the years - Country-Ska, Fizz Pop, Rural Drift. Slacks songs are vignettes, observations and character studies clothed as pub-rock anthems and singalongs. Like Johnny Cash crossed with Sublime, in bare feet.
