Experience intimate, immersive piano music at Momo Wholefood Cafe - a beautiful heritage building, in the heart of Newcastle

Momo Piano Sessions returns! After a sold out event for World Piano Day in March this year, our November event sees us return to Momo Wholefood for another captivating evening of piano centred performances.

Joining Newcastle's own neo-classical pianist and composer, Mirla, we have a very special interstate guest, Aria-nominated Melbourne pianist and composer Nat Bartsch.

Nat Bartsch is an ARIA-nominated Melbourne pianist/composer. She creates lyrical, neo-romantic music at the intersection of several genres, and has released music for both ABC Classic and ABC Jazz. Her latest release, Hope, is a cathartic neoclassical suite that responds to the Black Summer bushfires and long Covid-19 lockdowns in Melbourne. It explores the space between hopefulness and hopelessness, with the intention to leave the listener with a feeling of optimism and catharsis. For this performance Nat will perform selections from Hope, alongside pieces from her acclaimed lullaby album Forever, and No Time At All.

Mirla is the solo project of Neo Classical pianist and screen composer Emily Mirla Harrison. Mirla’s music is an emotionally charged experience laden with minor key piano motifs, carefully crafted modulations, set-down to aching arrangements of delicate strings. She will be performing works from her debut album 'Solitaire (The Virtue of Patience) - A potent concoction and brooding brew of immersive movements that lure the listener to imbibe, to become lost, to journey onwards and inwards.
