French-born experimental artist Félicia Atkinson will brings her captivating sounds to the IMA . Through the lush sounds of her Fender Rhodes, field recordings, and speech in both French and English, Atkinson brings a unique experience of stretching and folding time in-place. She has been renowned for her works on her label (co-run with Bartolomé Sanson) and has collaborated with musicians including Jefre Cantu-Ledesma, Chris Watson, Christina Vantzou and Stephen O’Malley. Atkinson has also performed at venues and festivals including INA GRM/Maison de la Radio and the Philharmonie (Paris), Volksbühne (Berlin), the Barbican Center (London), Le Guess Who (Utrecht), Atonal (Berlin) Issue Project Room (NYC), Henie Onstad (Oslo), Unsound (Krakow), and Skanu Mesz (Riga).
Atkinson will be supported by Brisbane/Meanjin based project Noir et Blanc (Amber Ramsay) and Spirit Lights (Joshua MacGregor). This highly-appraised collaboration has featured on radios 4ZZZ KEXP and Triple R, and released albums on 4000 Records. Noir et Blanc and Spirit Lights will perform together using modular synthesis and piano to give a narrated conceptual and meditative journey.
