MNHC is excited to host geologist and author Rob Thomas to dive into the contents of his new book, Montana Rocks: A Guide to Geologic Sites Under the Big Sky! In this work, Rob provides an overview of the geological history of Montana with context from 60 of the best geological sites throughout the state. Discover the fascinating geology, landscapes, and stories hidden beneath Montana’s surface!

About the Author: Robert C. Thomas is a Professor of Geology in the Environmental Sciences Department at the University of Montana Western in Dillon. He has authored or coauthored more than 75 publications, including Roadside Geology of Montana and Roadside Geology of Yellowstone Country. As a field geoscientist, he engages students in real projects designed to benefit society and the environment. His personal passions are family, mountain recreation, and playing guitar around a campfire.
