ABOUT THE CLASS

Is your child curious about how things work?
Join us after school for an exciting 4-month engineering adventure at the Lairg Learning Centre!

Using the incredible CrunchLabs subscription boxes - designed by YouTube legend Mark Rober - each monthly session challenges kids to build, experiment, and solve real-world engineering problems in a fun, collaborative environment.

Every month, the group works together to assemble a brand-new, fully functional CrunchLabs engineering toy or gadget. Classes are strictly limited to a small group of children so everyone can roll up their sleeves and take on an active role in the build.
Through testing and customising their joint creation, kids learn core physics and mechanical engineering principles while building confidence, teamwork, and critical thinking skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

Class Details
This course consists of 4 monthly sessions (1 session per month). Spaces are strictly limited to keep class sizes small and interactive.

Over the course of the 4 months, every child will take home one of the completed CrunchLabs gadgets!

ABOUT MARK ROBER'S CRUNCHLABS
CrunchLabs is a hands-on STEM programme created by Mark Rober—former NASA engineer and YouTube inventor. Designed to unleash creativity and spark curiosity, these subscription boxes teach kids to think like an engineer. Rather than following rigid instructions, children explore core physics and mechanical engineering concepts—such as gear ratios, flywheel energy, and projectile motion—through fun, interactive building and real-world problem-solving.

This project is supported by The Highland Council’s Community-Led Local Development (CLLD) Fund, delivered alongside HTSI. The 'Making Space' initiative offers accessible, hands-on activities for local children and families - removing financial barriers, boosting confidence, and bringing engaging, creative STEM learning directly to the heart of our rural community.
