Mookai Rosie Bi-Bayan - The 40 Years Celebration

Mookai Rosie Bi-Bayan was founded to provide support for women from Cape York, Northern Peninsula Area and Torres Strait regions coming to Cairns to birth, specifically culturally safe and health supported accommodation.

Today, services have evolved and diversified in response to the increasing need of families for comprehensive wrap-around services, addressing multiple and complex issues. We provide health-supported accommodation, primary care services, maternal health, and social and emotional wellbeing support, with more services coming to meet the needs of our people!

In 2026, Mookai Rosie Bi-Bayan proudly celebrates 40 years of service, advocacy and care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and communities. This milestone event recognises four decades of community-led leadership, cultural strength and commitment to creating safe, supportive health journeys for future generations.

The 40 Years Celebration will bring together Elders, community members, industry partners, government, corporate supporters and allies to honour the organisation’s journey and celebrate our achievements!

We're hosting a Gala Dinner (Thursday 29th October) and a Healthy Futures Conference (Friday 30th October).

As we acknowledge this milestone, we look forward to reaffirming our commitment to future generations and to continuing this important work together. Join us!
