Mooloolah River Landcare - Annual General Meeting 2026 & Platypus Monitoring Talk
Description
Mooloolah River Landcare AGM 2026 – Come Along and Get Involved!
Join us for our Annual General Meeting on Friday 18 September, and make a night of it!
We're kicking things off from 5:30pm. Arrive and have a look around, say hi to fellow members and introduce yourself to the team if you've not attended an MRL event with the management committee before. Our Annual General Meeting will commence at 6pm, where we'll reflect on the year that's been, present our audited financials and gather our team for the year ahead!
This event will be a relaxed chance to catch up with fellow members, meet the team, and put some faces to names if you're new to our community. Finger food will be provided, and drinks will be available to purchase.
Whether you're a long-time member or curious about getting involved in MRL for the first time, everyone is welcome. Come along, enjoy some good company, and hear more about the work we're doing to care for our part of the region.
We're thrilled to announce that Trevor Morrison from ECOllaboration is our special guest speaker for the second part of the evening! Starting at approximately 7pm, join us to uncover the secret life of the platypus, and learn how local conservation projects and community action are helping protect them. Trevor is leading the PlatyTracker program at ECOllaboration as their Community Engagement & Education Coordinator. You can learn more about the program here > https://ecollaboration.org.au/event/fortnightly-platypus-monitoring-program
We'd love to help support this great citizen science project by getting more of our community involved! This is a wonderful way to make a valuable contribution to the survival of this iconic species!
This is event is not to be missed!
For those who may be interested in joining our committee for the 2026-2027 period, and are after more detail, you can download the position descriptions here > https://mrl.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Committee-position-descriptions-Volunteer-Positions.pdf
Nomination forms can be found via our website > https://mrl.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/MRL-Committee-Member-Nomination-Form_2026.pdf
Don't be afraid to get involved. We've got an amazing team, and we'd love more of our members to take an active role in our organisation. Whether you've got business, planning or event management skills, a background in environmental science, conservation or just a passion for volunteering, then we encourage you to come along. There are so many ways for you to lend a hand, either throughout the year, or on a regular basis. There is no pressure to join the committee, so if you're just wanting to come and listen to Trevor (because yes, he will be the highlight for many) then please feel free!
Please RSVP for catering purposes.
This event is supported by the Sunshine Coast Council Grant's Program.
