Moontime Cycles, young girl moontime circle.
Event description
Moontime Cycles
Join midwives Freya Martin & Jessica Moraes for a Moontime Circle.
This Moontime Circle is for young girls 10-14 years of age with their mother or woman support person.
Together we will create a sacred space to honour this powerful and magnificent transition to maidenhood.
Freya and Jessica will bring their midwifery and nursing knowledge and experience of female anatomy and physiology. Sharing of stories of your first bleed can be done if you feel comfortable to do so. We will speak about traditional practices for menarche and menstruation and we will bring the holistic picture of the menstrual cycle as following the internal seasons of winter, spring, summer and autumn.
This circle will empower young girls to feel confidence in living with the seasons of their cycle and to feel knowledgeable about their unique and incredible bodies.
We will create a bracelet or necklace with gemstones; agate and moonstone as a way to honour the bleeding days. Moonstone is chosen for it's link to the cycle of the moon which many traditional cultures followed alongside their menstrual cycle. We will use agate for its calming and grounding properties, believed to balance the female reproductive system, supporting both the physiological and emotional aspects of the menstrual cycle.
The nurturing practice of traditional belly wrapping for menstruation, providing warmth and support will be taught, alongside simple anthroposophical nursing care for menstrual cramping and pain.
Please bring a long scarf, rebozo or sarong for belly wrapping.
Lunch will be provided - please let us know if you have any dietary requirements.
We look forward to sharing with you all.

Your facilitators:
Freya is a midwife and a mother to two young children. Since becoming a mother, she has developed a passion for increasing awareness of the menstrual cycle and the seasonal, cyclical changes within it. Freya loves to help girls and women to harness their feminine power by increasing knowledge of how their energy and motivation levels change throughout their cycle. She has a special interest in care and support for women in the months after birth, and matrescence, which is the profound change women go through when they become mothers.
Jessica is a mother to four beautiful boys, a midwife, paediatric nurse and maternal child health nurse. She has a deep wish to empower young girls and women to be in tune with their bodies and develop an innate sense of the seasons of their cycle. She brings knowledge and experience of anthroposophical nursing and traditional belly wrapping practices to women’s health care. She runs the Gabriel conversation group for new parents; supporting women along their pregnancy, birth and parenting journey.
